Netgear doesn’t give access to the equipment's full user interface to users of some of its managed network switches, who don’t register their personal details with Netgear first.
Description
Netgear is a Silicon Valley giant manufacturing networking products. In September 2020 they were found to not provide full access to the user interface to those customers who haven’t registered, giving up some personal data, even though customers pay for their products. This is an example of Decisional Interference.
For instance, owners of its 64W Power-over-Ethernet eight-port managed gigabit switch GC108P, and its 126W variant GC108PP, need to hand over information about themselves to the Netgear Cloud to get full use out of the devices.
Allegedly they want customers data to market further products to them.
