Description

Sift Science Inc. is a company that helps businesses determine consumer trustworthiness by tracking approx. 16.000 factors of people’s personal information online.

The company has hidden ratings that determine how other businesses would treat this consumer: how long they wait on hold when calling a business, whether they can return items at a store, and what type of service they receive. Up until summer 2019, there was no possibility for individuals to access their personal score upon request, or even information, whether or not one is in the system at all. This can be interpreted as Exclusion.

In 2019 in order to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of (2018) Sift made it possible for individuals to access such files upon request. It became clear, that individual records consist of a large amount of this person's data, including IP addresses, messages, orders, activity logs from apps, etc. A report on one individual can be as long as 400 pages. This is an example of Aggregation.
