Uber collects location information, payment data and attaches series of tags to data subjects - this data is used to filter service for specific individuals, and is accessed by Uber employees.
Description
Uber was found to put immense efforts into logging every aspect of its interactions with customers. For example, it appeared that the data collected includes not just the time of account creation, but also the place where the person were when they created an account, and how quickly after creating that account they first called an Uber, and how long the account has been active, down to the second. Surveillance
Uber is also known for its employees to have access to the personal informaiton of the users and drivers.Insecurity This lead to Uber employees accessing its data inappropriately for their personal purposes: to track exes and to spy on celebrities like Beyoncé. Secondary Use
Uber database has more than 500 pieces of information that Uber tracks for each of its users, which is a clear example of Aggregation.
It appeared that in their databases Uber gives users different tags, such as "greyball", which influences the service for the user. E.g. "greyball" means there will be a different map view for that user. This can be seen as an example of Exclusion.
