In 2019 Facebook was found deactivating user accounts without objective reasons or explanations.

Description

Some Facebook users are facing the problem of having their accounts suddenly disabled without an explanation. In this case, Facebook’s decision to stop providing services to certain users is not transparent. Attempts by users to regain access rarely works and often users are only told that their profiles have been disabled for “suspicious activity.” It is not clarified, however, what behavior exactly caused the deactivation. This is an example of Exclusion.

Some of the users, who’s access to their accounts were disabled without explanation, describe their experiences as traumatic, because of how much personal information and symbolic meaning their profiles have or used to have.
