Reports that Google is placing targeted ads on Youtube videos that are marked "made for kids" which is a violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

Description

In early August 2023 a report released with evidence that shows that Youtube videos that are marked “‘made for kids”, have been found with advertising trackers that Google use as well as targeted ads. The problem with this is videos marked “made for kids” are supposed to have data collection and targeted ads disabled in order to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. While there is no evidence that Google is collecting data from these videos, the targeted ads which appear on these “made for kids” videos often lead to a third party site when clicked which are collecting data on the user, who are usually unsuspecting children.
